Emporio: A Meatball Joint is the first floor concept inside the unique Sienna Mercato three story restaurant located in Downtown Pittsburgh. Emporio: A Meatball Joint is a casual fast-paced dining experience and a fun upbeat atmosphere for our employees and guests.

Job Description:

The Restaurant Sous Chef serves as the assistant to the Executive Chef and participates in the management of the kitchen, the food preparation process and other administrative duties.  Duties include, but are not limited, to the list below:

  • Assist in the planning of menus and promotions.
  • Deal with guest needs indirectly through the service staff.
  • Properly store all food, which must be covered, dated and rotated on a daily basis.
  • Manage staff under the direction of the Executive of Head Chef.  
  • Assist with the enforcement of sanitation and safe food handling standards.
  • Deal with guest or employee issues as related to the kitchen.  
  • Maintain effective communication with co-workers and managers.
  • Work in a team setting when required.
  • Work independently when required.
  • Train new and current kitchen staff on Restaurant processes and expectations.

Position Requirements:

  • Previous restaurant experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced setting.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment when required.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
